How to prepare the AeroPress coffee press

The Aeropress is a device used to prepare coffee by tamping, invented by Aeropay CEO Alan Adair in 2005. To prepare coffee with this device, the coffee must be steeped for 10-50 seconds, then the tamping press is pressed to extract the coffee.

  • Grinding degree:
  • Coarser than espresso grind
  • Filter :
  • - High filtration of turbidity and allowing the essential oils to penetrate your cup.
  • - Where the flavor is extracted with appropriate excellence.
  • Preparation method (Aeropress)
  • Tools needed:
  • mill, kettle, scale
  • Numbers:
  • 15g of coffee to 225g of water, brewing time 2 minutes, if you have a Baratza Oncore: grinding setting (8) is a good starting point.
  • Steps:
  • Boil the water.
  • Place the filter in place in the AeroPress lid.
  • Moisten the filter by running water through it. This helps to achieve pure flavors in the cup, without the effect of paper flavor.
  • Grind the coffee finely.
  • Turn the Aeropress over and place the coffee in the bottom of the drum (on the tambour).
  • Start pouring water when it reaches 90°C (2 minutes after boiling).
  • First, pour 50 grams of water slowly, stir the coffee several times, and then start the timer.
  • Next, pour the remaining required amount of water (175 grams = 225 grams) relatively slowly and stir the coffee through the pouring process, then cover the Aeropress and let the coffee steep for a minute and a half.
  • Then open the lid and make three movements, then cover again and make sure that the coffee is completely pressed so that there is no air inside the cylinder.
  • Turn the cylinder over and start tamping for 30 seconds after making sure there is no coffee stuck to the ceiling of the Aeropress.
  • Clean the Aeropress by discarding the pressed coffee and rinsing with a little water.
  • Drink and enjoy. If the coffee is too strong, increase the coarseness of the grind or reduce the preparation time, and vice versa if it is too light.
